Doris Schaub

Doris Schaub, age 87, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo. She was born Jan. 19, 1928, at the family farm near Arcadia, Kan., the daughter of Joe Harris and Maude Buchanan Harris. Doris was the youngest of 14 children. She married Lester Schaub on Feb. 24, 1945, in Arcadia. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 2004. Doris loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed being a "homebody." She also liked to cook and to keep things in order. She was a member of the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Schaub and wife, Sis, of Olathe, Kan., and Don Schaub and wife, Lea, of Franklin, Kan., son-in-law, Steve Morris and wife, Pat, of Arcadia; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a special friends, Alfred Engle, Arcadia; and two sisters, Bessie Hood, of Brighton, Colo., and Betty Mitchell, of Osage City, Kan., and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Constance Morris, six brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until service time at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the St. Mary's Catholic School and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
