Motorcycle enthusiasts invited to weekend celebration

Friday, October 3, 2014

Anyone who is interested in motorcycles and getting together with motorcycle families is invited to the second annual Halloween Party, to be held today and Saturday at Elm Creek Lake.

The event, which begins at noon, will feature games and prizes, a kids' fishing derby, live music, bike games, and vendors.

There will be a church service held Sunday with the Christian Motorcycle Association.

New this year will be an outhouse race, organizer Bill Cooper said.

The event is sponsored by A.B.A.T.E. of Kansas District 3.

According to Cooper, the event is intended to promote motorcycle awareness and education. Anyone who is thinking about becoming a motorcycle rider is encouraged to attend.

During a visit to the Bourbon County Commissioner's meeting in August, Cooper said he is hoping the event will continue to grow. He also hopes to give back to the community by using proceeds from future events to make improvements at Elm Creek Lake, such as planting trees.

The event is billed as a family gathering, with no firearms or glass bottles and alcohol is not promoted.

Admittance is a donation.
