Penelope "Pennie" Sue Province
Penelope "Pennie" Sue Province, 64, of Fort Scott, died Wednesday afternoon at the Fort Scott Mercy Hospital. She was born July 26, 1950 in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Douglas G. and Nancy Morgan (Stone) Hudson. She married William "Bill" Province Dec. 18, 1971 in Fort Scott, Kan.
Pennie began her lifelong passion for being an educator as a graduate of Michigan State University in 1974 and enjoyed many years teaching in the classroom.She earned both her master's and education specialist degrees from Pittsburg State University in 1979 and 1989, respectively, on her way to becoming an administrator for the SEK Interlocal and Fort Scott school district. She will be remembered for the zeal she showed for life, her extreme love of family, and the joy she received from gardening.
In addition to her husband Bill, Pennie is survived by her children; Ryan Province and wife Stacie of Overland Park, Kan., and Brooke Province Sebbert and husband Mike of Olathe, Kan.; two brothers, Bannus Hudson and wife Cecily of San Francisco, Calif., and Blake Hudson and wife Jo of Fort Scott, Kan.; and two grandchildren, Cael and Ian Province.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan., under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
