Doris Iva Wimberley, 95, of Fort Scott, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 at Medicalodge in Fort Scott. She was born Dec. 18, 1918 in Copeville, Texas, the daughter of William Peagram and Mattie Mae (Jones) Proctor. She married Charles A. Wimberley June 28, 1964 in McAlester, Okla., and he preceded her in death in 1993.

Doris is survived by three daughters, Jill Bardwell of Plano, Texas; Wanda May of Dallas, Texas and Retha Ross of Fort Scott; a brother, Jewel Proctor of Kilgore, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Edna Sowder of Fort Scott, Kan.; a stepson, Bruce Wimberly and wife Elaine of Brandon, Miss., two step-daughters, Marilyn Bauer and husband, Don of Sallisaw, Okla., and Kathleen Ward of Manhattan, Kan., three grandsons, Timothy Ross and wife Brandi; Matthew Ross and Dylan Ross, three granddaughters, Elizabeth Ross, Sue White, and Angela Neale, and four great grandchildren, including Ricky Peoples. In addition to her husband, Charles, Doris was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Wayne White, and Jerry Sowder, and a brother, Odell Proctor.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, private interment will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery.
