Margaret A. Stewart, age 96, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the Guest Home Estates in Fort Scott. She was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Bronson, Kan., the daughter of Glenn H. Entzminger and Ada M. Smith Entzminger. Margaret graduated from the Bronson High School. She married Victory Forrest Stewart on July 10, 1938, at Altamont, Kan. The couple owned and operated their own dairy farm near Bronson for many years prior to moving to Fort Scott in 1990. Margaret enjoyed music. She played both the piano and violin and often sang at area funerals. She also enjoyed flower gardening, taking pictures and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Tabernacle.
Survivors include a son, Jim Stewart and wife, Sharon, Fort Scott, Kan., and a daughter, Brenda Nichols and husband, Don, Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren, DeAun Hoy and husband, Steve, Tulsa, Okla., Dane Nichols and wife, Tammy, Andover, Kan., Sean Stewart and wife, Bernetta, Henderson, Nev., and David Stewart and wife, Shanda, Fort Scott, Kan.; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. Her husband, Forrest preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1997. She was also preceded in death by a brother, George Entzminger and a sister, Lucile Kuns.
Rev. Paul Rooks will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Grace Baptist Tabernacle and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
