Cory Lee Warren

Cory Lee Warren, 26, formerly of Uniontown, Kan., and more recently of Marion, Ill., died Monday, June 9, 2014 in Carbondale, Ill. He was born Aug. 6, 1987, the son of Joseph William and Shirley Kay (Johnson) Warren. He married Kristina Suzanne Elliott June 29, 2013 in Uniontown, Kan., and she survives of the home.

Cory graduated from Uniontown High School. He walked on at Kansas State University and played football for one year until he was injured. He student coached for four years with Bill Snyder at K-State and then was an assistant coach with Rion Rhoades at Hutchison for two years, and then at Southern Illinois University with Coach Dale Lennon for two years. Cory received his masters of science in education in kinesiology (sports medicine). He was a member of the Uniontown United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife Kristina, Cory is survived by his father and step-mother, Joe and Lorequita Warren of Uniontown, Kan.; a brother, Weston William Warren, also of Uniontown; grandfather George Warren of Uniontown; and maternal grandparents Marvin and DeLois Johnson of Elkhart, Kan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Kay Warren, and his paternal grandmother, Wilma Warren.

Rev. Kevin Moyer and Rev. Connie McKee will conduct funeral services 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the West Bourbon Elementary Gym in Uniontown, Kan., with burial following at the Uniontown Cemetery under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday evening June 16, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cory Warren Scholarship Fund at Uniontown High School and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W.
