Woman arrested after alleged assault, criminal damage spree

Officers with the Bourbon County Sheriff's Office apprehended a local woman who caused a disturbance at various locations throughout the county on Friday.

About 2 p.m., BCSO officers took into custody 59-year-old Betty Ilene Bradbury for charges of assault and battery, two counts of misdemeanor criminal damage to property, and disorderly conduct; brawling or fighting.

In one instance, Bradbury visited a residence at 2210 Wagon Road and confronted a woman there and a minor altercation broke out between the two women, Bourbon County Undersheriff Ben Cole said Monday.

Cole said Bradbury was "under the influence of something" undetermined and was also intoxicated from consumption of alcohol.

The woman who was confronted - who does not reside at the house but was supervising the children there - called 911 and one of her three grandchildren who were present in the house also called the emergency number. The child also called their mother who lives at the residence and the mother, as well as emergency personnel and authorities, responded to the house.

Cole said the children's mother also called 911 to let officers know that guns were present in the house as a precaution during the disturbance. Cole said "no guns were ever taken out" during the incident and there was never a threat of weapons.

"It never got to that point," he said. "The lady causing the scene made it in the front door of the residence. It never went beyond that."

There were no injuries during the incident. Bradbury allegedly shoved the woman she confronted and some minor property damage allegedly occurred when Bradbury's car struck the other woman's car parked at the house, Cole said.

Bradbury allegedly went to other locations in the county, "on a rampage and causing a scene" at each place she visited, Cole said. He talked with other people who stated they witnessed Bradbury's alleged behavior. BCSO officers were called to the residences and business.

Cole also alluded to the fact that Bradbury and the other woman were acquaintances and Bradbury knew people at each of the locations she visited.

Bradbury ended up at Hammond Seed Company, where she allegedly cut open a couple of bags of horse and cattle feed and allegedly flattened some tires on a four-wheeler. She also visited other residences that she knew, allegedly "causing a scene, yelling, cussing, screaming and making threats," Cole said.

According to Bourbon County Sheriff's Office reports, a $3,500 bond was set for Bradbury, but she was released at 4:38 p.m. Sunday with no charges filed.
