Dolores Sherwood Bolden

Dolores Sherwood Bolden, age 96, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at the Medicalodge of Fort Scott.She was born Feb. 26, 1918, in Maney, Kan., the daughter of Robert Lee Roy and Laura Mae Toynton Roy. She married Loren Theodore Bolden on Nov. 23, 1946. He preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1968. Dolores enjoyed collecting marbles, playing the harmonica, fishing, cooking and traveling. She was a member of the Fort Scott Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Bolden and Larry Bolden, both of Fort Scott; two daughters, Donna Fisher, Moundville, Mo., and Laura Deen, Albany, Georgia; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Tyler and Daniel Bolden; two daughters, Dorothy Radford and Bonnie Heaton; and three sisters, Hazel Stark, Nina Vantil and Sylvia Roy.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
