Raymond L. Tripp

Raymond L. Tripp, age 82, a resident of rural Fort Scott, Kan., died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at his home. He was born July 28, 1931, in Pittsburg, Kan., the son of Glen E. Tripp and Thelma I. Ashmore Tripp. He married Alice Crosby on Dec. 1, 1980, at Miami, Okla. Ray had worked for 28 years for MetLife. He then worked for a time with Bird View Satellite. Later he worked for 25 years for K&K Auto. He was a member of the Freedom Spirit Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite Consistory. Ray enjoyed football, baseball and track as well hunting. He especially enjoyed restoring antique automobiles.
Survivors include his wife, Alice, of the home; four daughters, Rhonda McAlister and husband, Ted, Sapulpa, Okla., Sandra Buntain and husband, Mike, Springfield, Mo., Marsha Heiser and husband, Jerry, Prescott, Kan., and Laura McDysan and husband, Lee, Berryton, Kan.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Wilma Iori, Pittsburg, Kan., and Lois Harris, Frontenac, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter.
Rev. Dale Cummins will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Freedom Spirit Church and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
