Dorothy I. Troth
Dorothy I. Troth, age 78, Mound City, Kan., passed away on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center. She was born at Pleasanton, Kan., on June 3, 1935, the daughter of Sam and Madge Smith Hayes. She married her high school sweetheart Raimond Troth on Aug. 7, 1951 at Pleasanton. After being united in marriage, you seldom saw one without the other. In addition to being homemaker, Dorothy rode over a million miles with Raimond in his semi. She was a member of the Mound City United Methodist Church where she had served as a trustee. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. Dorothy enjoyed water skiing, camping, and playing cards with family and friends. In years past Raimond and she enjoyed square dancing and traveled to several locations throughout the country to dance. She was an exceptional seamstress and sewed most all of their square dance clothes as well as crocheted numerous baby items for family and nurseries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Mary Louise Troth, and two grandchildren, Matthew and Mark. She is survived by Raimond, her husband of over 62 years, three sons: Charles Troth and wife Connie, Danny Troth and wife Melody, and Gary Troth and wife Anita, a brother, Jack Hayes (Marian), two sisters, Ellen Butts (Richard) and Margie Stroud (Bill), eight grandchildren: Kim,
Rachelle, Dustin and wife Breanna, Jordan and fiancé Michelle, Caitlin Rai and husband Kurtis, Ciara, Ciandra and Dirk,, and four great grandchildren: Dawson, Pierceson, Ashton and Colton.
Funeral service was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at the Mound City United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church.
