Fort Scott High School senior Jillian Lattimer (seated, center) signed a letter of intent to become a member of Pittsburg State University's track and field program Wednesday afternoon in the high school media center. With Jillian as she signed were FSHS head girls' track coach Tracey Bogina (left) and her mother, Julie. Lattimer joins classmate Katren Rienbolt, who signed to play basketball and run track and cross-country earlier.
Following the signing, Bogina related a story about the first time she met Lattimer as a freshman, remembering that Lattimer wasn't certain if she'd go out for track. However, Lattimer was a Class 4A State qualifier in javelin last season and in javelin and shot put as a sophomore. She specializes in throwing events for the Tigers, shot put, discus and javelin.
