Terry Lynne Heiser
Terry Lynne Heiser, age 63, Pleasanton, Kan., passed away on Sunday Jan. 12, 2014. He was born on June 12, 1950 at Manhattan, Kan., the son of Robert and Mary Lou Snow Heiser. Terry graduated from Pleasanton High School. He married Mary Jane Read on Oct. 4, 1975 at the United Methodist Church in Pleasanton. He attended Colorado State University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resources. Terry started his working career with the U.S. Forest Service. He then worked for Kansas City Power and Light for 25 years as a process attendant. Beginning in 2001, Terry split time between the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Bureau of Land Management. He worked as a biologist in some capacity for all the agencies. He was a former Pleasanton School Board member, serving two terms, and a member of the NRA. He loved the outdoors and nature. Everything from bow hunting to studying native grasses and flowers, were his interests. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane, four daughters: Becky McGinnis and husband Brandon, Meagen Heiser, Kala Heiser and Rachel Nouri and husband Eddie, his mother, Mary Lou Heiser- Hardy, two brothers, Jerry and Tim Heiser, two sisters, Sheilah Umphenour and Susan Regen, and four grandchildren: Dalton, Rylee, Eli and Gage McGinnis.
A gathering to celebrate Terry's life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at the Pleasanton First Christian Church. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. The family suggests contributions to Linn County Sharing Bucket or Mercy Hospice.
