Fort Scott High's girls won their 13th straight Southeast Kansas League contest Tuesday night, beating Parsons by a 56-28 score at the FSHS gymnasium.

Despite missing starting post Brianne Lawrence with a hamstring injury, the Tigers (3-0 SEK, 4-1 overall) scored the game's first 10 points and 17 of the first 19. Elisha Hasenplaugh started for Lawrence -- who hoped to recover in time for Friday's game against Independence -- and finished with 13 points and 8 rebounds.

Abby Denton started in place of Jillian Lattimer and added 6 points while picking up 4 steals. Lattimer, who missed some practice time during the holiday break while on a family trip, grabbed a team-leading 9 rebounds off the bench.

Parsons (0-4, 0-5), which lost its 16th straight league game, only saw two players score. Haleigh Stewart led with 15 points and Elaysia Kelly scored the other 13. They made 8 of 17 field-goal tries while the other Viking players were a combined 0-for-19.

The Tigers, still ranked No. 2 in Class 4A-Division I by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, led 19-4 after one and 33-10 at the half.

Ashley Cook led the Tigers with 15 points.

Independence (4-0, 7-0), ranked fourth in the KBCA poll, visits Friday night. The Bulldogs beat Labette County, 52-42 Tuesday night.
