Middle school girls take 3 of 4 from Iola

IOLA -- Fort Scott Middle School's girls basketball teams won three of four games against Iola here Thursday. The seventh-grade "A" team and both eighth-grade teams posted victories.

The day began with a narrow loss for the seventh-grade "B" team by a score of 12-8. Kelcie Bailey led the Tigers (3-2) with 3 points.

The seventh-grade "A" team defeated Iola, 35-14. Alaina Allen led the Tigers (9-2) with 12 points while Ciara Stumfoll added 11. Abby Humble was credited with 7 rebounds.

The eighth-grade "B" team beat Iola, 20-12, as Samantha racy led with 8 points and Morgan Carr chipped in with 6 for Fort Scott (5-0).

The eighth-grade "A" team concluded play with a 43-21 victory to improve to 8-1, outscoring the Ponies 27-5 in the second half. Kelsie Nelson led the way with 11 points and Kharsyn Dwyer added 11.

All four teams played at Pittsburg Monday with the first game starting at 3:30.
