Barton controls second half in 'Hound defeat
GREAT BEND -- Fort Scott trailed by just 2 points at halftime here Friday night but couldn't keep pace in the second half and Barton went on to an 81-61 victory in the season opener for both teams at Barton's home classic.
The Cougars shot 63 percent from the field in the second half on 14 of 22 while holding Fort Scott to 35 percent on 9 of 26.
Kevin House led the Greyhounds with 19 points while Dalton Rose added 11 and Jaylyn McCormick chipped in with 10.
Darius Gibson led Barton with 28 points as he made 9 of 15 shots from the field and 10 of 11 at the free-throw line. Raheem Johnson and Tyler Corley each added 15 points for the Cougars.
Barton outrebounded Fort Scott, 37-30. C.J. Hall led the 'Hounds with 5 boards.
Fort Scott will face Butler today at 3 p.m. to conclude play in the classic.
