Kathy Elaine Martin

Kathy Elaine Martin, 59, of Fort Scott, Kan., died on the morning of Oct. 21, 2013. She was born May 27, 1954 in Springfield, Mo., to Charles F. Ford and Edna Mae Ford. She was a member of the Fort Scott High School class of 1972. She married Kirby Martin on Feb. 19, 1971. They divorced in June of 1998. She worked for Western Insurance and Newman Young Clinic and later for USD 234 and Mercy Hospital Fort Scott. She later began a career with Great West Insurance, and at the time of her death she was a Platinum Manager for Cigna Health Care. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fort Scott.

She is survived by her mother, Edna Mae Campbell of Fort Scott; a brother, Charles Ford and wife Joyce of Minneapolis, Minn.; a brother, Cavin Ford of Fort Scott; a sister, Joelene Conner and husband David Conner of El Dorado, Kan.; two sons, Brett J. Martin and wife Sara Rust-Martin of Topeka, and Jared F. Martin and wife Alesha Martin of Fort Scott; five grandchildren, Madelyn, Emma, and Cedrik Martin of Fort Scott and Lily and Jack Martin of Topeka. She was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda Ford; her father, Charles F. Ford; and a sister, Sonja Davis.

A visitation will be held at Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 6 to 8 in the evening. Reverend Jared Witt will conduct funeral services the morning of Thursday, Oct. 24 at 10 at the First Presbyterian Church, 308 S. Crawford Street with interment following at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
