Middle school volleyball wins 3 of 4 matches

LaCYGNE -- The first official competition for the revived Fort Scott Middle School interscholastic athletic programs took place here Thursday as the volleyball teams won three of four matches.

The seventh-grade "A" team defeated Prairie View, 25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 25-14. Jocie Allen served 9 aces and Grace Krokroskia and Gabbie Clements each served 5. Allen, Hunter Adamson and Abby Humble were each credited with 3 kills and Allen had 4 assists.

The seventh-grade "B" team prevailed 25-15, 21-25, 25-7, 25-19. Rebecca Murphy served 8 aces and Lexie Bryant served 7.

The eighth-grade "A" team won the first set but Prairie View rallied for a 22-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-21 win. Kelsie Nelson had 6 kills for the Tigers, Madison Cook had 5 and Jenny Denton had 4.

The eighth-grade "B" team won 25-8, 25-8, 25-12. Aubrey Ard recorded 6 aces and 2 kills while Samantha Racy and Emma Davis each served 3 aces.

The middle school teams travel to El Dorado Springs, Mo., Tuesday. Play is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
