Charles Arthur "Chuck" Manyo

Charles Arthur "Chuck" Manyo, age 60, a resident of Cherryvale, Kan., passed away, Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wichita, Kan. He was born Dec. 30, 1952, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of John Joseph Manyo and Elsie Arlene Olson Manyo. Chuck served with the United States Navy from 1971 to 1980. Following his military service, he married Beth Ann Russell on July 11, 1981 at Virginia Beach, Va. The couple served as missionaries in Micronesia for several years. They returned to the United States prior to the passing of his wife on Dec. 13, 1997. He married Edith Abbott on Dec. 24, 1999, at Killam, Alberta, Canada. He then pastored several churches in the southeast Kansas area. Chuck was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend to those fortunate enough to know him.

Survivors include his wife, Edith, of the home in Cherryvale; four sons, Charlie Manyo and wife, Rachel, Zephyrhills, Fla., Russ Manyo, Virginia Beach, Va., Joe Manyo and Lawrence Manyo, both of Cherryvale, Kan.; and two daughters, Bethany Owens and husband, Jason, Coffeyville, Kan., and Becca Manyo, Cherryvale, Kan. Also surviving are two brothers, Joe Manyo and Mike Manyo and a sister, Tina Palmer, all of Milwaukee, Wis. In addition to his first wife, Beth Ann, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary.

Pastor Billy Wingard and Pastor Danny Whetstone will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at the Grace Baptist Tabernacle. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
