Offense slugging along for Fort Scott u16s

For a first-year team, the Fort Scott Tigers baseball u16s, coached by Paul Martin, have enjoyed a good amount of offensive success this season.

In a doubleheader against Frontenac, a balanced attack produced this output for the day.

Offensive leaders for Fort Scott were Isaac Thurston, with four singles, scoring twice; Dalton Barnes, with two walks and two runs; Tommy Avery, with three singles, two doubles and two runs; Jordan Phillips, with a single, two walks, was hit by a pitch and scored a run; Adam Deloney, with three singles and an RBI-sacrifice fly; Wyatt Tourtillott, with a single; Austin Cook, with a single and a run; and Lucas Gillen, with a single and a run.

In a tournament at Paola, the u16s were equally productive.

Offensive leaders were Isaac Thurston, with a double, two walks, a run; Drew Martin, with five singles, a double, a walk, five runs; Dalton Barnes, with two singles, three walks, a hit-by-pitch, and a run; Kaleb DeLaTorre, a triple, two home runs, a double, two walks, four runs, and an RBI-sacrifice fly; Jordan Phillips, a double, four walks, and four runs; Ryan Pickert, three singles, two walks, and three runs; Lucas Gillen, a single and a run; Jeremy Smith, with two singles, four walks, a hit-by-pitch, and six runs; Wyatt Tourtillott, with three singles, a double, and four runs; Ajele Smith, with a single, four walks, and three runs; Grant Hill, with a single, a double, and two walks; and Austin Cook, with two singles, a walk, and three runs.

Remaining games are Tuesday, July 9 with a doubleheader against the Baxter Springs A team at Ty Cullor field in Fort Scott, at 5:30; and Saturday, July 13 with another tournament in Paola.
