Griffith becomes city's new economic development director

City officials announced Wednesday that Heather Griffith has been tapped as the city's new director of economic development, effective June 10.

City Manager Dave Martin said Griffith, currently an assistant vice president and banking center manager at UMB Bank, was chosen from a field of about six applicants -- a majority of whom are local -- who interviewed for the position.

Griffith will replace Macy Cullison, the city's current director of economic development, who earlier this month announced her intent to resign in July and pursue another career.
