Fallen soldiers to be honored during annual ceremony

Tribute will be paid to the memory of fallen soldiers who served their country during Memorial Day services planned for Monday morning at the Fort Scott National Cemetery.

Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a prayer on the steps of the Bourbon County Courthouse, 210 S. National Ave., in honor of all American war veterans. The prayer will be led by the Rev. Kenton Van, pastor of First United Methodist Church.

The ceremony at the cemetery is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. with a welcome by Richard Wheeler, technician at the cemetery.
