Five win events for Eagles at Midway

BUFFALO, Kan. -- Five Uniontown athletes won individual events at the make-up of the Altoona-Midway Invitational here Tuesday. This meet was originally the first of the season for the Eagles but was postponed due to bad weather.

There was also a winning relay team for Uniontown as Cole Schafer, Gavin Miller, Josh Wisely and John Reed combined to turn in a time of 47.22 seconds in the boys' 4x100-meter relay.

Trenton Miller won boys' discus with a mark of 129 feet, 9 inches and also placed second in shot put and sixth in javelin. Wisely won the 200-meter dash in 24.25.

Abby Dixon won girls' javelin with a mark of 103' 9" and placed second in discus. Da'Nisha Robinson won shot put with an effort of 33' 11 1/2". Rachel Henderson won the 1,600-meter run in 7:26 and the 3,200 in 15:05.

"It was a great day," Uniontown head coach Jackie Hall said. "All of our athletes placed in their respective events."

Other boys' medalists:

* -- Reed was second in the 100 meters, fourth in high jump and fourth in long jump.

* -- Montana Beerbower took second in the 3,200 and third in the 1,600.

* -- Wisely was third in the 100 meters.

* -- Zach Davis was third in triple jump and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.

* -- Gavin Miller took third in the 300-meter hurdles and fifth in the 200.

* -- Davis, Shawn Wisely, Beerbower and Wes Wisely combined for a third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay.

* -- Zak Hueston claimed third in discus.

* -- Shawn Wisely was third in javelin.

* -- Schafer finished fourth in the 200 meters.

* -- Wade Wisely was fourth in the 400 and sixth in the 300 hurdles.

* -- David Brown was fourth in both discus and javelin.

Other girls' medalists:

* -- Jana Wilkinson finished second in the 800 meters.

* -- Hannah Fry was second in the 1,600.

* -- Aleah Sutterby took second in javelin.

* -- Amelia Brown was third in javelin and fourth in discus.

* -- Sarah Townsend placed sixth in discus.

Weather permitting, the Eagles were scheduled to be in Iola today for the Crest Invitational. The Three Rivers League Relays will be held at Northeast on May 9.
