FSHS students who recently played the part of good samaritans include (from left) Jace Stewart, Jordan DeWees, Nick Judson, Skyler Cruse, Tanner Johnson, Austin Alfaro, Jensen Nielson, and (seated) Kyle Perry and Joe Doherty. The students were some of more than 20 who tried to help after a local man crashed his vehicle into a tree last week. Other students who helped but were not present for the picture were Taylor Nielson, James Harrison, and Camden Stiles.

Some good samaritans can be found these days at Fort Scott High School.

A group of FSHS students recently helped a man who apparently suffered a seizure behind the wheel, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree on Main Street. The incident happened shortly after the school day ended Monday, April 22.

The students, who were walking home from school that day, witnessed a white van drive off the road and strike a few objects, including a tree, in the 800 block of Main Street. One student called 911 while others worked to free the driver, who was laying in the passenger seat as the vehicle filled with smoke.
