Tiger JV takes two from Southeast

Fort Scott High's junior varsity softball team swept Southeast at Don Hewett Field Friday evening. The Tigers won the first game 3-1 and rallied to take the second game, 8-5.

Emily Bowman scored 2 runs for the Tigers in the first game. Kinede Ross had Fort Scott's only hit, which drove in Abi Keating in the third inning.

Meghan Guss was the winning pitcher. She allowed 7 hits and no walks while striking out 2.

Southeast scored 5 times in the top of the first inning of the second game. The Tigers came back with 1 in the first and 3 each in the second and third. One more run went up in the fourth for good measure.

Keating had 3 hits for the Tigers while Guss, Kyle Brown and Alex Smith had 2 each. Smith and Jessica Milburn each scored twice.

Brown was the Tigers' pitcher, allowing 8 hits but walking nobody. She struck out 8 Lancers.

The Tiger junior varsity was scheduled to play Monday at Labette County and Thursday against Paola. Thursday's games will be held at Fisher Park's south field at the same time as the varsity doubleheader with Paola at Don Hewett Field (4:30 p.m.).
