Tiger tennis JV gets home tourney in

Fort Scott High's junior varsity tennis team got its home invitational played on Monday, beating out the rain by a few hours, though it was still cold and windy most of the day.

D.J. Blethen and Raifen Cruse were 1-3 in No. 1 doubles. They lost to Pittsburg's Josh Dial/Jack Patterson in their first match, 6-0. They came back to beat Parsons' Matt Mosier/Chance Hurley, 6-4. Independence's Kyler Brown/Joel Rice took a 6-2 win and Chanute's Drake Gilmore/Zane Wyrick won in a tie-breaker, 6-5 (7-2).

Jon Carpenter and Tim Higgins were 0-4 in No. 2 doubles. Their outcomes were a 6-1 loss to Pittsburg's Will Jewett/Jarod Wilde, a 6-5 (7-1) tie-breaker defeat to Parsons' Noah Kirsch/ Chance Hurley, a 6-3 loss to Indy's Chase Carter/Jordan Ashford, and a 6-4 loss against Chanute's Deny Kim/Alex Moran.

There were no singles entrants for the Tigers.

The FSHS junior varsiy is scheduled to play Friday at Pittsburg and Monday at Parsons.
