Six earn medals at Pitt State Relays
PITTSBURG -- Six Fort Scott High School athletes earned medals at the 24th Annual Jock's Nitch/PSU Gorilla Relays at Carnie Smith Stadium here Friday.
Chris Allen won boys' javelin with a mark of 165 feet even, nearly 17 feet better than that of the runner-up, Riverton's Kevin Qualls (148 feet, 4 inches). Seth Marshall was fourth for the Tigers at 142' 11".
Katren Rienbolt and Paige Denton each won medals in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters. Cameron Gueldner, a freshman from Olathe Northwest was the winner in each. Gueldner took the 1,600 in 5:16.74 with Rienbolt second in 5:24.38 and Denton fourth in 5:27.78. Gueldner's time in the 3,200 was 11:13.42 followed by Rienbolt in 11:29.12. Denton was seventh in 12:02.18.
Jilllian Lattimer took second in javelin at 116' 6" and third in shot put at 35' 7 1/2". Chanute's Haley Taylor won javelin at 130 feet even. Taylor Jones, a sophomore from Broken Arrow, Okla., won shot at 37 feet with Pittsburg's Brianna Maxwell second at 35' 10".
Brianne Lawrence was sixth in discus with a mark of 105' 3". Moriah Dapprich of Branson, Mo., was the winner at 122' 10".
