There were 110 students from area schools who competed in the Three Rivers League Art Show in Uniontown on Wednesday, showcasing the best of their talents.

Students were allowed to enter five art pieces, with a limit of two entries per student in each category or subcategory.

In addition to the art show, there were two competitions.

Hannah Travis and Monica Ramsey view the art on display at the Three Rivers League Art Show, which was held in the West Bourbon Elementary School gym.

Chalk art artists were formed into small groups with the task of incorporating a picture of a common object, randomly drawn, in a larger group drawing, using pop art style, according to a press release from Uniontown High School art teacher Chris Woods.

In addition there was a wheel throwing competition, where the challenge was creating the tallest cylinder and a throwing relay.

Judges for the art show were Rebecca Sutterby, owner of Sugar Creations, and Bob Cross, a retired art educator from Chanute.

Haven Bradbury, Uniontown, helps set up the art at the Three Rivers League Art Show at Uniontown. Bradbury was honored with one of her paintings being featured at the capital during Youth Art Month.

Schools that participated in the Uniontown show were Altoona-Midway, Northeast-Arma, Oswego, Pleasanton, St. Paul, Marmaton Valley, Jayhawk-Linn and Uniontown.

On April 3, the following UHS art students placed at a Prairie View art show: Junior Haven Bradbury placed with artistic excellence in her two dimension white charcoal drawing of Spider-Man. Also placing was Senior Monica Ramsey, for her watercolor painting, while Senior Jackie Duvall for her pastel color drawing, both with artistic excellence. An artistic merit award was earned by Freshman Lindsay Nietfeld for her pastel oil painting.

In March, Bradbury also competed in the Independence Community College High School Competition Day. She placed fifth in painting and also had one of her paintings on display at the capital during Youth Art Month.
