Rienbolt, Denton finish 1-2 in two events
PAOLA -- Fort Scott High's Katren Rienbolt and Paige Denton finished 1-2 in distance running events at the Paola Invitational meet here Friday.
Rienbolt finished first in the 1,600-meter run in 5:26 while Denton followed in 5:31. Then Rienbolt took the 3,200 meters in 11:52 with Denton second in 13:13.
Those finishes were responsible for 36 of Fort Scott's 51 team points as the Tigers finished in sixth place. Paola was the winner with 189 points with Louisburg a distant second with 73 points.
Jillian Lattimer took second place in javelin with a throw of 119 feet, 4 inches. Louisburg's Nicole Hopkins was the winner with a mark of 124' 11".
Brianne Lawrence rounds out Fort Scott's results with a third-place mark of 107' 3" in discus. Paola's Kelsey Slawson was the winner with an effort of 135 feet even.
Chris Allen was the boys' only medalist, finishing second in javelin with a mark of 156' 2". Paola's Andrew Henn was the winner at 172' 2".
The Tigers will be at the Pittsburg State University Relays Friday.
