Freshman left-hander Payton Logan didn't allow a hit as Fort Scott Community College's baseball team shut out the Evangel University junior varsity in the first game of a doubleheader at Lions Field Thursday.

Logan (1-0) allowed 2 walks and struck out 8 in 5 innings, which is as far as the game went due to the run-rule. Only one Evangel runner reached second base.

Fort Scott won that first game 10-0 and took the second 9-2, improving to 16-9 on the season.

The games were moved from Springfield, Mo., to Fort Scott due to unplayable conditions at Evangel's home field on Wednesday and Thursday.

The only inning in which Fort Scott failed to score in the opener was the first. The Greyhounds scored twice in the second and third, once in the fourth and five times in the fifth.

Josh Griffith scored in the second on an error and Connor Staihr came in on Zach Taylor's RBI single. Joe Hermsen drove in Sam Gilbert and Matt Shannon brought in John Morey on third-inning singles. Morey plated Gilbert in the fourth to make it 5-0.

Evangel never got the 'Hounds out in the fifth. Shannon and Parker O'Dell led off with singles. Griffith plated Shannon, then Staihr and Taylor drew back-to-back walks, the latter forcing home O'Dell. Griffith scored on a wild pitch in front of Jeff Rousseau's double -- the only extra base hit of the game -- that scored Staihr and Taylor to end the game.

Shannon went 3 for 3 for the 'Hounds. Gilbert and O'Dell were each 2 for 3. Every Greyhound had at least 1 of their 13 hits.

Rousseau and Shannon each hit home runs in the second game. Rousseau's was a 2-run shot that was part of a 4-run second inning. Shannon's was a solo homer with 1 out in the third.

Alex Drew went 2 for 3 with 3 runs batted in. He drove in the first 2 runs of the second with a double and had another RBI in the fourth. Rousseau, Gilbert and O'Dell were each 2 for 3 while Shannon and Hermsen each went 2 for 4.

Landon Holifield (1-0) was the winning pitcher, coming on in the fourth inning and pitching 2 innings of no-hit relief. Lance Barkley and Gilbert each hurled an inning of hitless relief.

Chris Getz had both of Evangel's hits, which came in the first 3 innings.

The Greyhounds play Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division doubleheaders today and Saturday at Coffeyville
