3 sign volleyball letters
Fort Scott Community College head volleyball coach Lindsay Hill has announced the signing of three student-athletes. Terina Harris, Tristen Patterson, and Sharla Quick have signed letters of intent for the 2013 season.
Terina Harris, a 5' 4" libero from Porter, Texas, was named Academic All-District, Athlete of the Month, Team Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, Second Team All-District, and was an Honor Roll student. She also participated in basketball and played club volleyball.
"Terina is a solid ball control player and a great serve receive passer," Hill said in a media release. "She has the potential to be a great leader for our program next year. Terina has so much drive and spunk on the court, which is perfect for her position.
Patterson is a 5' 9" middle blocker from Lockwood, Mo. She also plays club ball for Springfield Juniors. She was named First Team All-District, First Team All-Conference, and First Team All-Region. Patterson also participated in FCCLA, FBLA, Yearbook, Tutoring, and ran track.
"Tristen is another tremendous athlete in this freshman class," Hill said. "She still has her best volleyball years ahead of her. Tristen learns very quickly and will be a versatile athlete for us."
Quick is a 5' 6" outside hitter and defensive specialist from Nevada. Quick was Freshman MVP in 2009, she was named Second Team All-District in 2012, and led the team in digs in the 2012 season. She also participated in track and played club volleyball.
"Sharla is one of those athletes that plays much bigger than her size," Hill says. "She has great ball control and is has a high volleyball IQ. I am excited about Sharla, as she is considered a 'hometown' kid coming from Nevada. She will compete as a six-rotation kid for us next year."
