Men's rodeo team maintains region lead
Fort Scott Community College's men's rodeo team entered this past weekend's competition in first place in the Central Plains Region standings. And after hosting the annual Fort Scott Community College Rodeo Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Arnold Arena, FSCC will maintain that lead.
In the weekend competition, Greyhound men pulled 430 points for fourth place. Panhandle State finished first with 475 points, with Northwestern Oklahoma second at 465, and Western Oklahoma third at 435.
Southwestern Oklahoma State was fifth at 240, NEO A&M sixth with 190, Connors State seventh at 160, Kansas State eighth at 130, Fort Hays State ninth at 100, and Garden City 10th with 95.
Panhandle's Shade Lyle Etbauer won the men's all-around with 155 points.
Fort Scott heads up the overall standings for the Central Plains Region after the competition, with 2,812.33 points. Panhandle State (Okla.), the winner of the Fort Scott rodeo, remains in second but closed the gap and now has 2,803.33. Southwestern Oklahoma State is in third at 2,035.
Fort Scott's women scored 135 points, finishing third behind winner Southwestern Oklahoma State at 150 and NEO A&M in second at 140.
Connors State was fourth at 120, Kansas State and Western Oklahoma tied for fifth at 60, Panhandle seventh at 50 and Pratt eighth at 30.
Austee Lynn Anderson of Southeastern won the women's all-around with 285.
The FSCC women entered the competition in 10th place, but moved up after placing third this past weekend. After the final points were tallied Sunday, Southwestern Oklahoma State remained in first with 1,801, with Northwestern Oklahoma State second at 1,207.5, followed by Western Oklahoma at 1,045. Fort Scott is now in eighth place, 97.16 points behind seventh-place Panhandle State.
This was FSCC's order of finish in each event, with all first-place winners listed and the school they were from if they were not representing Fort Scott:
Saddle bronc riding -- Ty Christopher Hamm first 150.
Bareback riding -- Ryan Allen Rickman first 149, Austin Don Graham fifth 141, Blaine Aaron Kaufman seventh 137.
Bull riding -- Joe Fred Frost of Panhandle State won with 146 points. Fort Scott's Shane Royal Henbest was second with 73 and Chelse McGuire Day was third with 68.
Tie down roping was won by Dustin Lynn Moore of Panhandle State in 18.3 seconds. No one from FSCC placed.
Steer wrestling -- Jared Alan Thompson of Northwestern was the winner in 10.3 seconds. Again, no one from FSCC was able to place.
Team roping -- Kolton Butch Schmidt and Braden Keigh Harmon of Western Oklahoma were the winners in 12.0 seconds. FSCC's Chase William Gabriel and Mitchell Merlin Meyer were sixth in 8.2.
Barrel racing -- Ceri Cherise McCaffery of Southwestern Oklahoma State was the winner in 25.81 seconds. Fort Scott's placer was Morgan Dawn Bowen, sixth in 26.38.
Breakaway roping -- Jessie Faye Suazo of Panhandle State won in 5.4. seconds. No one from FSCC placed.
Goat tying -- Amy Deen Outhier of Southwestern Oklahoma State was the winner in 15. 2 seconds. For FSCC, Jacob Nicole Hotsenpiller was fourth in 15.9 and Brittany Lee Mumbrue placed sixth in 17.8.

Bareback riding -- Blaine Aaron Kaufman first, Tyler Clinton Pasour fourth, Ryan Allen Rickman fifth, Austin Don Graham eighth, Alex Daniel Edmonds 10th, Brody Lane Cooper 11th, Dalton Reed Kingery 15th.
Bull riding -- Chelse McGuire Day fifth, Kyle Alan Peterman ninth, Shayne Royal Henbest 10th, Colton Tyler McKellips 14th.
