Eagles sweep winless Jet teams

UNIONTOWN -- Uniontown's basketball teams swept Altoona-Midway here Tuesday night in Three Rivers League play.

Uniontown girls opened with a 68-17 thrashing of the Jets that moved them into fourth place in the TRL. Eagle boys defeated the Jets, 54-40.

Neither Altoona-Midway squad has won a game this season. Both are 0-7 in the league and 0-17 overall.

Hayden Rathbun scored 14 points for Uniontown's girls (5-3, 8-10) while DaNisha Robinson and Amelia Brown each added 12.

The Eagles led 25-2 after one period and 47-7 at the half.

Uniontown's boys (2-6, 6-12) led 8-5 after one, then held the Jets to 1 point in the second quarter to stretch the margin to 21-6.

The Jets outscored the Eagles, 27-23, in the fourth.

Skyler Riley led the Eagles with 17 points. Brenton Esslinger added 14.
