Harold Lynn Duerson, 89, retired after 36 years as a machinist for Derby (Coastal) Refining, passed away of natural causes on February 6, 2013 at Presbyterian Manor. Services will be held on Monday, February 11 at 10 a.m. at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel with interment immediately following.

Harold was born on the farm in Uniontown on June 11, 1923. to Anna May (Cowan) Duerson and Robert Lynn Duerson. After graduating from Fort Scott High School and before leaving for the US Army after being drafted, Harold married his sweetheart and the love of his life, Marjorie Leone Fisher, on January 28, 1945.

Harold served in the 793rd Base Depot Co. and was deployed to Japan where he served as part of the occupying forces. Upon his return, he and Marjorie farmed and raised livestock in Bourbon County for several years before moving to Wichita in 1952 where they raised their family.

Preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Daisy Ruth Ogle, Harold is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Marjorie L. Duerson of Valley Center, his three daughters, Carolyn (Robert) Goree, Janice (Tom) Wakefield and Ellen (Arlyn) Fagen, all of Wichita, five grandchildren, Rachel (Daniel) Jansen of Derby, Brenda (Mac) Welch of Jersey City, N.J., Aaron (Innette) Fagen of Orlando, Fla., Clinton Fagen of Shawnee, and Emily Fagen of Wichita, and 10 great grandchildren, Tori and Kiser Jansen, Tatiana, Jaden, Colton, Jacob and Elaina Fagen, Lauren and Logan Niss and Liam Welch.

Harold had a big heart and was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who always focused on caring for his family. He was very adept at gardening, car and household repairs, building and woodworking. After retirement, you could always find Harold in his workshop wearing his favorite overalls. One of he and Marjorie's greatest joys came from their many travels across the USA in their motor home, "Molly".

Harold and Marjorie were extremely active in Wesley United Methodist Church for almost 40 years before its closing. They are both current members of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. The family wishes to express specials thanks to the staff of Presbyterian Manor for the exceptional care they provided to Harold in his last years.
