Fort Scott High School Student Council President Devonn Grillot, second from right, presents a check for $1,525 to The Beacon Director Bob Eckles Tuesday afternoon at FSHS. Students, faculty and staff raised the money after a two-week "Coin Wars," competition in which each class, in addition to faculty and staff, placed jars near the FSHS office. Contributors put bills in their own jars to increase their points and coins in the other jars to subtract points. Faculty and staff won the competition, with seniors taking a close second place. Sophomores finished third, freshman, fourth, and juniors, fifth. Money from the jars totaled $575, but several clubs donated an additional $375 and Stuco pitched in another $575.
