First-ever combined concert

The first-ever combined Fort Scott High School Band, Orchestra and Choir concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the FSHS gym.

In the past, the groups held separate concerts. Directors expect the gym to be packed. Each group will perform two numbers independently of one another with two pieces that are combined with all three groups.

The last piece will be a Christmas sing-along with the audience.

"As directors," FSHS Director James Fox wrote in an email, "we are pretty excited about this performance."

Also, the band, orchestra and choirs will be traveling to St. Louis in May to perform at the Gateway Arch as part of that city's Memorial Day weekend festivities, as well as touring many attractions in St. Louis.

Fox said he also had many students perform in the Southeast Kansas Honor Band, Orchestra and Choirs on Dec. 1.
