Uniontown girls finish tourney on high note
HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- Uniontown's girls finished their week in the Humboldt Emprise Bank Classic with an effort that pleased head coach Dustin Miller in a 52-14 pasting of Three Rivers League rival Crest.
"We ended the week on a good note," MIller said. "This tournament has been a good test for us to see where we stand going forward. It has revealed to us the things we must work on to get better. I am very proud of how hard the girls have played."
Uniontown's boys weren't as fortunate Friday night, falling to Crest by a 46-28 score.
Eagle girls (2-2) held a 15-8 lead after one period. They held the Lancers to 2 points in each of the remaining three quarters.
Hayden Rathbun led Uniontown with 14 points and DaNisha Robnson added 12. Robinson and Jamie Dawson each had 4 rebounds. Lakyn Coyan and Mandie Ridge each handed out 4 assists. Rathbun also had 3 steals.
Only three players scored for Crest (0-4) with Kurston Gilliland posting 8 points. The Lancers have been outscored by an average of 49-22 in their four games.
Brenton Esslinger led Uniontown's boys (1-3) with 13 points. Kyle Hammond scored 20 for Crest (3-1).
The Eagles host St. Paul Tuesday in a TRL doubleheader at the West Bourbon Elementary School gymnasium.
