Donald Harold Crooks
Donald Harold Crooks, age 83 of Mound City, Kansas died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at the Prescott Country View Nursing Home at Prescott, Kan.
He was born on Aug. 19, 1929 at Kansas City, Mo., the son of Harold and Beulah Hodge Crooks.
He married Lennie Hill on Feb. 21, 1952, at Shawnee, Kan. Donald worked as a farmer, a truck driver and owned and operated Crooked Creek Farms grain elevator in Mound City.
He coached ball for over 20 years for different teams, attended the First Baptist Church in Mound City, loved to fish, play cards, and especially his family. He is preceded in death by his parents and a son Mark William Crooks in 2006.
Survivors include his wife Lennie of Mound City, three daughters: Susan Myers and Paul; Shelly Cochran and Jerry; and Donna Long and Rick all of Mound City, two brothers: Gerald Crooks of Liberty, Missouri; and Ray Hodge of Overland Park, Kansas, a sister Vera Taylor of Forsyth, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren with two on the way.
Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Mound City. Visitation will be held from 5:30 Pm to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Fort Scott National Cemetery.
