James Leroy Daniel
James Leroy Daniel, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at the Olathe Medical Center. He was born on March 13, 1941, at Mound City, Kan., the son of James and Alta Wakefield Daniel.
He graduated from Pleasanton High School class of 1959. He served his country in the United States Navy. Leroy worked for Kansas City Power and Light for 33 years before retiring in 2002. He then drove a truck until this last year.
Leroy's family, the western way of life, ranching, community involvement and helping others is what brought him the most joy. He was involved at Benjamin Stables in Kansas City, a member of the Linn County Fair Board, American Legion, Hewitt-New Post, and the Elks. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-daughter, Colette. He is survived by his wife Barbara of the home, children, Holly Woods (Dwayne Holt), Lori Bruns (Jim), stepson Dwight Terry (Sabrina), and stepdaughter Lizz Nation (Mike), a brother Merl Daniel (Joyce Robey); 14 grandchildren, Evan, Garrett, Austin, Addie, Levi, Brett, Jed, Aubry, Shaylee, Blaiton, Jamee, Zachary, Emmah and Olivia; and a niece, Christina.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at the Linn County 4-H Building. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.
