JOSEPHINE MAYHUGH
Josephine Mayhugh, age 103, of Prescott, Kan., died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at the Prescott, Country View Nursing Home.
She was born on Aug. 29, 1909, at Merced, Calif., the daughter of James and Cora Hopkins Walrod. Josephine married Artie Mayhugh on Oct. 19, 1927; he preceded her in death in July of 1976. She worked as a homemaker raising her two children and helping Artie on the farm. She was a member of the Mantey Methodist Church since 1923, the Home Interest Club of Mantey and the Prescott United Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Morris, James, Marion, and Jack Walrod; and two sisters, Anna Lee Phillips, and Dixie McDonnell. Survivors include a son J.W. Mayhugh and wife Jean of Prescott; a daughter Neldeen Bowen of Wann, Okla.; a sister Evelyn Lubrano, seven grandchildren nine great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at the Prescott United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Battlefield Cemetery near Prescott, Kan.
