Community members will have a new place to eat on Sundays, starting this week.

Fort Scott Community College will begin offering brunch from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. starting Sept. 16 at the cafeteria.

"It's open to everybody," Food Service Director Dan Karczewski said. "... I would love to have 100 people from the community show up on Sunday."

Cost is $10 for adults and there are discounts for seniors and children. Karczewski said the brunch is on FSCC students' meal plan. Great Western serves an average of 160 students per meal.

The repast will include a full breakfast of carved brisket, pit ham, lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo, fried chicken, a full salad bar, deli bar and made-to-order omelets. Drinks and dessert will also be available. Proceeds go back into the food service budget.

Great Western Dining, headquartered in Tipton, Mo., provides cuisine to FSCC as it does for colleges in six states, including 20 in Kansas, Karczewski said. "We used to do Sunday brunch at small towns we serve. We started at Neosho County Community College in Chanute," he said, adding the firm also offered one at Highland Community College in Highland, Kan.
