LOIS MEDDOCK
Lois Meddock, 92 died, Sunday Aug. 19, 2012, at Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade, Kan.
She was born Sept. 13, 1919 at Uniontown, Kan., the daughter of Fay and Ruth (Bobbitt) Keith.
She graduated from Uniontown High School and attended Fort Scott Junior College.
She was a homemaker and has worked in the courthouse in Fort Scott, then taught school in a one-room schoolhouse outside of Uniontown, Kan. She later became co-owner of Meddock Implement where she became the bookkeeper, parts clerk and secretary.
On July 3, 1941, she married Bertram M. Meddock in Bronson, Kan. He died Dec. 21, 1998.
She and her husband farmed in Bronson, Kan., and in 1955 moved to Texhoma, Okla. Then in 1957 they moved to Spearman, Texas. In 1962 they moved to Beaver, Okla., to operate Meddock Implement before moving the business south of Liberal, Kan.
She enjoyed playing the piano, quilting and traveling.
She is survived by son Keith Meddock and wife Linda of Waka, Texas; daughters Evelyn Meddock and companion Chuck Minor of Burden, Kan., Elaine Meddock of Turpin, Okla., brother Ralph Keith and wife Laura of Oakdale, Calif.; sisters Marie Reynolds of Oakdale, Calif.; Kathryn Panzner and husband Dick of Dighton, Kan., sister-in-law Alleene Keith of Solsbyville, Calif.
Grandchildren Stephanie Tice, Crescent, Okla., Joy Garcia and husband Ted, El Prado, N.M., Emily Gehrer, Liberal, Kan., Mike Meddock. Fowler, Kan., Ellis Meddock, St. Marys, Ga., and David Tice, Mulhall, Okla., Roger Close and wife Diane Spearman, Texas, and Danny Close, Spearman, Texas, and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers David, Alva, and Carl, sister Tressie Hunsaker and granddaughter Michelle Tice and brother-in-law Jim Reynolds.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Fort Scott National Cemetery with Chaplin James Stradley, VFW Post No. 1165, presiding.
Visitation time will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brenneman Funeral Home
