Redfield Ruritan Club presents membership pins
The Redfield Ruritan Club met July 12 with 11 members and three visitors present. Visiting the Redfield Club were Stan Pearce, district Ruritan governor from Cherokee, and Eddie Henderson, Ruritan national representative, and his wife Darla from the Elsmore Club.
Preceeding the business meeting, RoyJohnson, president of the club, presented a 40-year membership pin to Raymond "Skeet" George, a 20-year membership pin to Gary Hall and a new member pin to Troy Johnson.
The Lyle Hixon Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Kyra Asbury. Asbury is a nursing student and the granddaughter of Roy and Letha Johnson.
The meeting adjourned with the flag salute.
The Redfield Ball Association recently held a cookout in the Redfield city park and Ruritan Club members were invited to attend. The ball association did this as a way of expressing thanks to all who made the ball season a special time.
The association extended a special thanks to Gary and Jackie Hall for all they did for them.
Following hot dogs, chips, ice cream and cookies, games and visiting were enjoyed. The association is planning to have some dinners in the future to raise money for the coming year.
Wilma Graham, along with some members of her family, recently spent a weekend at Silver Dollar City.
The Rev. Joel Dunn's message last Sunday at the Redfield United Methodist Church was entitled "Clues to Christ's Compassion." Cierra Pearson and Bradley Hicks served as candle lighters and Mandy Pearson was song leader.
Doris Williams and Diana Almasi visited the Bourbon County Fair where Williams' great-grandchildren showed hogs at the fair. Jaxon Pitts showed two market hogs and he received a blue ribbon on them. Blaine Pitts showed a market hog in open class and received a red ribbon. Gracie Pitts also showed a market hog in open class and received a red ribbon.
