Hemphill family to perform Friday night

The Hemphill Family and Friends Band will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at the Heritage Park Pavilion as part of the Friday Night Concert Series.

The band, which plays old-time country and rock music, fun songs and gospel, consists of Jack Hemphill, Brad Hemphill, Sandy Hemphill, Kristen Hemphill Weeks, Gary Thompson and Jeff Han.

The group has performed several times at the pavilion in past years and is "a favorite with the crowd," event organizer Ralph Carlson said.

"I am really pleased to get them again and this is a concert that you should not miss," he said.

The concerts take place weekly through the summer at the Heritage Park Pavilion at the corner of First and Main streets.

Carlson said he encourages attendees to bring lawn chairs as seating will be very limited.

The concert series is sponsored by the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce Downtown Division. The show is free and open to the public.
