BETTY ALLENE CROWTHER
Betty Allene Crowther, age 89, of Burlington, Kan., passed away Saturday April 7, 2012, at the Coffey County Hospital in Burlington, Kansas.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1922, at Richards, Mo., the daughter of Roy B. and Leona L. Hamby Johnson. Betty was a graduate of Hume High School. She married William Earl King on Oct. 23, 1942. To the union three children were born. He preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1979.
Betty then married Charles Crowther on April 25, 1987 at Fort Scott, Kan; he preceded her in death on April 25, 1998. Betty worked for the Prescott Schools as a cook. She was a member of the Hume Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary, and the Pioneer Harvest Association in Fort Scott, Kan.
She loved to bowl and would always help with the Cole Center Days in Prescott, Kan.
She is also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Connie King. Survivors include a son John King of Odessa, Mo., a daughter Donna Adams of Burlington, Kan., five grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012, at the Prescott United Methodist Church.
Visitation was from 1 p.m. to service time at the church.
Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery near Hammond, Kan.
