(1912)
According to advice received here this afternoon Fort Scott is expected to be in the grip of another blizzard tonight as it has been snowing hard all of the morning at Kansas City while Western Kansas is experiencing one of the worst storms of the year. Reports received by the Frisco dispatcher this morning from Kansas City told of the hard snowstorm raging there then said it is expected to reach here within a few hours. Fort Scott received a bountiful supply of coal this morning and will be in good shape for winter weather.
Thousands of dollars in checks were distributed among employees of the Frisco in payment for last month's work. The checks this month are large as business, especially on the road for engine and train men, and all available road men are being employed daily to move the large amount of coal that is being placed in storage.

Snow covered all of Kansas today with the southwest portion, where moisture was needed most, reporting the heaviest fall. Rain began falling Fort Scott last night and after daylight this morning turned to sleet, then to snow.
The local weather man reported a total precipitation of .66 of an inch made up mostly of rain.
Members of the American Legion, Clair C. Harkey Post, and the Legion Auxiliary will join in a potluck supper Monday night to celebrate the 18th birthday of the veterans' organization.

A celebration commemorating the centennial of the Fort Scott National Cemetery this year was proposed last evening at a meeting of the civic club representatives called together by the Chamber of Commerce.
The National Cemetery here was created by an act of Congress in 1862. Fort Scott was designated then as the No. 1 National Cemetery. The Chamber of Commerce donated $100 to the committee as a kick-off fund for the commemoration.
