Edna Louise Swanson Dill, 83, of Columbus, Kan., passed away March 6, 2012, at Medicalodges in Columbus, Kan.
Edna was born on Nov. 11, 1928, in Columbus, Kan. She was the daughter of John and Mercedes "Cordray" Swanson.
Edna graduated from Cherokee County Community High School in 1946. She married Ervin A. Dill on March 5, 1948; he survives of the home.
Edna worked in the Columbus school system for 20 years as a teacher's aide. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, directed the Children's Hunger Program and the Presbyterian Women.
She enjoyed painting, gardening, and singing in the church choir.
Additional survivors include one son; Mark A. Dill and wife Cindy of Independence, Kan.; two daughters, Edith Leah Lewis and husband Ron of Fort Scott and Glenda L. Davidson and husband Frank of Joplin, Mo.; two brothers, Carl Swanson of Columbus, Kan., and John Swanson of Ridgecrest, Calif.; three sisters, Mary Dee Camerer of Columbus, Edith Pyles of Riverside, Calif., and Doris Raley of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 9, at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Kan., with Pastor Susan Rosenbaum officiating. Burial will follow in Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, Kan. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
