EMMA JEAN McINTYRE
Emma Jean McIntyre of Prescott, Kan., was born July 28, 1932, and died Feb. 10, 2012. Emma Jean was born near Prescott and received her education there.
She married Leon McIntyre on Aug. 20, 1950. After serving a tour of duty with his National Guard unit at Fort Lewis, Wash., they farmed and ran a dairy near Prescott. Emma Jean was also employed by Western Insurance in Fort Scott for several years.
Emma Jean was an active member of the Prescott Methodist Church and the WSCS where she served in various offices. Emma Jean also enjoyed the fellowship with the members of the Philo Study Club where she served as an officer for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband and by her parents, George and Florence Sutherland.
She is survived by her brothers Walter Sutherland and his wife Leta of Piedmont, S.C., Howard Sutherland and his wife Harriett of Kennewick, Wash., and Harry Sutherland and his wife Carma of Rexburg, Idaho, sister-in-law Carmen (McIntyre) Grigsby and husband Edd of Bartlesville, Okla., 18 nieces and nephews and 41 grand nieces and nephews.
Emma Jean and Leon had a very unique life together. They began dating their sophomore year in high school, never dated anyone else and were never apart until separated by Leon's death. Joyfully, they are now reunited.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at the Prescott United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Prescott Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Schneider Funeral Home, Pleasanton Chapel.
