COFFEYVILLE -- Coffeyville swept a Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division doubleheader from Fort Scott Community College here Wednesday night.

Coffeyville's women gave head coach Emily Washburn her 200th career victory as they defeated Fort Scott 66-58. Red Raven men, ranked second in the nation in NJCAA Division I, exploded to a 21-2 lead on their way to a 117-59 whitewash of a short-handed Greyhound team.

Coffeyville women 66, Fort Scott 58.

The Greyhounds (1-6 East, 6-12 overall) weren't able to keep pace after leading several times in the first half.

Burgandie Lewis put Fort Scott up 5-2 as she scored the first points of the game for the 'Hounds. Later, Erica Smith hit a 3-point shot followed by a transition layup to put Fort Scott up 10-7.

Jataeva Arnold's free throw with less than 9 minutes remaining put the 'Hounds in front for the last time, 16-15. Daryn Miller hit a 3-point shot for the Ravens (3-4, 8-11) to spark a 14-8 half-ending run.

Fort Scott managed to get within 33-32 with 15:35 left in the game as Jolee Sharp made two free throws. But Coffeyville scored 10 of the next 12.

The Ravens' largest lead was 61-43 with roughly three minutes to go. The 'Hounds outscored Coffeyville the rest of the way, 17-5.

The 'Hounds (1-6, 2-17) dressed only six players due to disciplinary action.

A 3-point shot by Charles Hammork capped the Raven's initial 21-2 run. There was also a 15-2 run late in the half that made it 55-16.

It was 58-20 at the half. Coffeyville (7-0, 18-1) scored 13 of the first 15 of the second half.

Fort Scott got 26 points from Austin Danner and 15 from Maurice Fields. Showing no quit as usual, the 'Hounds almost doubled their first-half output in the second half, scoring 39 points.

Dawon Cummings led Coffeyville -- which has won its last nine games -- with 28 points while Hammork followed with 11 and Cory Henshall, a Chanute High School graduate, added 12. Those three combined to make 25 of 30 shots from the field. Chadrack Lufile chipped in with another 11 points for the Ravens while Coffeyville grad Ethan Cordray added 10.

The Greyhounds will host Independence in a Jayhawk Conference doubleheader Saturday at Arnold Arena. The women's contest tips off at 2 p.m with the men to follow at 4 p.m.

NOTES -- The 117 points Raven men scored was the sixth-most allowed by a Fort Scott team. Coffeyville has three of the top 12 high-point marks against FSCC. However, this did not approach the record of 159 scored by Independence on Feb. 3, 1962....

Coffeyville's men haven't lost since December 2, when the Ravens fell to Cloud County, 78-68, in the semifinals of the eight-team Coffeyville Juco Elite Eight Tournament....

Independence's women (5-2, 15-3) defeated Kansas City, 43-39, Wednesday night while the men (3-4, 8-11) lost to the Blue Devils, 96-82. The women's conference losses are to first-place Johnson County and second-place Highland, both of which are ranked in the NJCAA Division II poll. Johnson is No. 1 and Highland is No. 5....
