Rebecca Sutterby's customers like her cakes. They really, really like her cakes, so much so that WeddingWire, the nation's leading nuptials marketplace, has announced Sutterby has been selected as one of WeddingWire's Bride's Choice Award winners.
The annual awards program recognizes the top local wedding vendors from the WeddingWire Network who demonstrate excellence in quality, service, responsiveness and professionalism in the wedding industry. The laurels are given based on customer reviews from newlywed clients.
Sutterby said she has a section on her website where customers can write reviews. "Selection is based on the top 5 percent of people who have gotten the best reviews," she said.

The WeddingWire local vendor community is comprised of more than 200,000 wedding professionals throughout the United States and Canada.
The Bride's Choice Award recognizes the best local wedding vendors across 20 service categories -- from wedding venues to photographers, based on their overall professional achievements throughout the past year.
Many of the cakes Sutterby creates are for competition and feature sugar ribbons and Styrofoam inside, instead of sweet stuff. "These are actual events that people wrote a review for and gave me the five stars allowed. It's special in that it comes from my customers," the Savonburg resident said.
The self-taught cake master doesn't often partake of slices of her own confections. "I have a little taste, just for quality control, but I don't actually get a taste of my own cakes very often. It's better for my waist if I don't," Sutterby said. She added her three sons always like the scraps.
She'll often start baking Thursday for a Saturday wedding, but there are other things she has to tend to beforehand such as flowers or special construction.
The Sugar Creations owner hardly ever makes the same cake twice. "I meet with the bride or whoever is planning the event and ask them to bring pictures of their dresses, pictures of their flowers and whatever design they're planning to have at the reception. I take into account how many servings they need and how elaborate" it is, she said.
In 1998, Sutterby took a beginning hobby class in cake decoration, teaching herself how to make her trademark pastries from there.
She and her husband, Jason, have three sons, Lane, 14, Colt, 12, and Clay, 9.
