JIMMIE LeROY ORTON

Jimmie Orton, 82, of Stark, Kan., passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Jimmie was born in Driftwood, Okla., on Nov. 23, 1929, the son of Raymond and Francis (Hill) Orton. He graduated from Driftwood High School in 1941.

He married Jeane Mitchell on Nov. 26, 1953 in Erie, Kan.

He is a member of the American Legion in Erie.

Jimmie is survived by his wife Jeane of rural Chanute; one son, Frank Orton of Meridian, Idaho; one daughter, Annie Prather and husband Lou of Chanute; six grandchildren, Steve D. Finley, Dustin Finley, Nick Finley, Justin Orton, Amber Newberry and Clayton Orton; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma Rowland of Hays, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jodie Orton; and two sisters, Elizabeth Shirley and Deloris Orton.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later time.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Otterbein United Methodist Church Food Pantry or the Heritage Nursing Home Activity Fund and may be left with the funeral home.
